Participants of the first ANIV-G meeting in Milan on 17 Jan 2020.

ANIV-G in a nutshell

ANIV-G is the group of young researchers within ANIV. Its goal is to promote cooperation in the Wind Engineering discipline, ease the exchange of ideas, support the spreading of knowledge and favor contamination with other scientific communities. The group is open to students, PhDs, researchers and practitioners who are interested in deepening their knowledge, sharing their experience and contributing to the development of Wind Engineering. ANIV-G is not limited to ANIV members and no membership fees are required. ANIV-G is devoted to young researchers from industry and academy, from Italy and abroad, who wish to participate in the promoted activities.

Promoters

Federico Canepa
Università di Genova
federico.canepa@edu.unige.it

Federico obtained a MSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Genoa. He benefitted from a dual research program to receive a PhD in Wind Science and Engineering at the University of Genoa and a PhD in Wind Engineering and Environmental Fluid Mechanics at Western University in Canada. He was recipient of the ANIV Award 2022. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Giovanni Solari WinDyn Research Group of the University of Genoa. His research is mainly focused on the characterization of thunderstorm winds through large-scale experimental campaigns and full-scale recordings in the main ports of the Northern Mediterranean Sea.

Giulia Pomaranzi
Politecnico di Milano
giulia.pomaranzi@polimi.it

Giulia received her MSc degree in Civil Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. She obtained her PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a thesis on building aerodynamics especially focused on porous cladding elements. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, as part of the Wind Engineering group. She is mainly involved in research projects related to wind interaction with civil structures, like buildings and long-span bridges.

Lorenzo Raffaele
Politecnico di Torino
lorenzo.raffaele@polito.it

Lorenzo obtained a MSc in Civil Engineering at University of Bologna and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. He was recipient of the ANIV Award 2020, and of a H2020 Marie Curie Individual Fellowship. He was visiting professor at von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics. He is currently Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Torino, Dept. of Architecture and Design. His research is mainly focused on modelling of windblown sand effect on structures through CWE and WT tests, and on reducing the vulnerability of wind-exposed systems through the design of effective eco-friendly mitigation measures.

Former Promoters

Other colleagues have been promoters of ANIV-G in the recent past. ANIV-G likes to acknowledge their contribution.

Promoters of ANIV-G from 2019 to 2022:

Cristoforo Demartino (today Assistant Professor at Università Roma Tre); Luca Patruno (today Associate Professor at Università di Bologna); Alessio Ricci (today Assistant Professor at IUSS Pavia).

Participants

ANIV-G gathers young researchers in Wind Engineering from Italy and abroad.

⥤ ANIV-G Meetings

Collective meetings are organized every two years to foster collaboration, exchange of ideas & outline next ANIV-G steps.

⥤ ANIV-G PhD Sessions

During congresses it is usually very hard to convey to the public the complexity of the research performed during a PhD. ANIV-G, in collaboration with the IN-VENTO organizing committee, organizes informal sessions specially dedicated to the dissemination of the research performed by young members who are completing their last year or just obtained their PhD.

⥤ ANIV-G Live Talks

ANIV-G organizes seminars and workshops to introduce innovative research topics from different scientific communities, transversal competencies, and to promote dissemination of research funding opportunities. Some ANIV-G Live Talks are available on the YouTube ANIV-IAWE channel.
